1969.01 England: Cambrai Barracks, Catterick: A Squadron detached to Smuts Barracks, Berlin RAC Training Regiment

1971.01 Germany: Hobart Barracks, Detmold, reorganised as an armoured regiment 20 Armd Brigade
. 10 May 1972: Regiment’s close ties with the City of Derby were cemented by the award of the Freedom of the City .
. 15 Sep 72 - 15 Jan 73: C Squadron converted to armoured cars in the autumn for a four month emergency tour in Northern Ireland, where it was based at Gosford Castle, County Armagh .

1979.05 Germany: Swinton Barracks, Munster  as an Armoured Reconnaissance regiment, equipped with a mixture of wheeled and tracked reconnaissance vehicles 5 Field Force
1980.11 Germany: Campbell Barracks, Hohne: Armoured Recce Regiment, fully equipped with the new tracked Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance family 1 Armd Division
. 7 Jul - 21 Sep 82: C Squadron went to Northern Ireland to provide the Maze Prison Guard Force for three months .
.  Jul 82: Colonel in Chief visited the remainder of the Regiment in Hohne .
1984.02 Germany: Northampton Barracks, Wolfenbuttel, reorganising into four sabre squadrons, handing its Scorpions over to the armoured regiments and taking back the Striker, guided missile system from the Royal Artillery. The basic reconnaissance vehicle then became the Scimitar , on "B" Squadron's handover of the close reconnaissance responsibilities to parent battle groups 1 (Br) Corps: Recce Role
