1947

1 April RHQ 4th HAA Regt RA redesignated RHQ 50th HAA Regiment RA at Stonely Park Camp, Coventry with 33, 167 and 174 Btys from 5 and 6 HAA Btys, and 12 Coast Bty (resus from personnel of 258 HAA Bty), respectively.

 

1948 - 49

England: Stonely Park Camp, Coventry with 33, 167 and 174 HAA Btys.

 

1950

England: Stonely Park Camp, Coventry with 33, 167 and 174 HAA Btys. Mar or Nov moved to Durranhill Camp, Carlisle.

 

1951

England: Durranhill Camp, Carlisle with 33, 167 and 174 HAA Btys.

 

1952

England: Durranhill Camp, Carlisle with 33, 167 and 174 HAA Btys. 10 May moved to Dundonald Camp, Troon.

                    

1953 - 54

Scotland: Dundonald Camp, Troon with 33, 167 and 174 HAA Btys.

 

1955

Scotland: Dundonald Camp, Troon with 33, 167 and 174 HAA Btys. 12 April converted at Troon to 50th Medium Regt RA (complete by 31/8/55). On the 29 April 1955 the Regiment was re-equipped with the 5.5 Gun.

 

1956

Scotland: Dundonald Camp, Troon with 33, 167 and 174 Med Btys, equipped with the 5.5 Gun. July or September moved to Limni, Cyprus.

                    

1957

Cyprus: Limni with 33, 167 and 174 Med Btys, equipped with the 5.5 Gun. Sept moved back to Dundonald Camp, Troon?

 

1958

Scotland: Dundonald Camp, Troon with 33, 167 and 174 Med Btys, equipped with the 5.5 Gun. Mar 78 Bty joined from 40 Regt. 1 June 167 and 174 Btys S/A to resus 15 and 21 Btys (late of 61 and 28 Fld Regts, respectively) (167 and 174 Btys disbanded 1/1/62)

 

1959

Scotland: Dundonald Camp, Troon with 15, 21, 33 and 78 Med Btys, equipped with the 5.5 Gun. Oct moved to Northumberland Bks, Menden, W Germany.

                    

1960

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 21, 33 and 78 Med Btys. 15 Sept redesignated a composite regt called 50th Regiment RA. On the 12 August the Regiment was re-named the 50th Missile Regiment R.A. with its 4 Battery's being 15 Battery, 21 Gibralter Battery, 33 Heavy Battery and 78 Heavy Battery. 15 Battery and 21 Gibraltar Battery was re-equipped with the American Honest John nuclear free flight rocket system and 33 Battery and 78 Battery was re-equipped with the 8" towed Howitzer.

 

1961 - 1963

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15 and 21 Msl Btys equipped with Honest John and 33 and 78 Heavy Btys equipped with 8" towed Howitzer.

 

1964

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15 and 21 Msl Btys equipped with Honest John and 33 and 78 Heavy Btys equipped with 8" towed Howitzer. 18 Mar Redes 50th Missile Regt RA but 78 Bty resus as a Hy Bty (late of 40 Regt) 15, 21 and 33 Msl Btys and 78 Hy Bty?

 

1965 - 1967

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15 and 21 Msl Btys equipped with Honest John and 33 and 78 Heavy Btys equipped with 8" towed Howitzer.

 

1968

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15 and 21 Msl Btys equipped with Honest John and 33 and 78 Heavy Btys equipped with 8" towed Howitzer. 28 Mar 78 Bty S/A to resus 56 Bty (late of 36 Regt)

 

1969 - 1970

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15 and 21 Msl Btys equipped with Honest John and 33 and 56 Heavy Btys equipped with 8" towed Howitzer.

                    

1971

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15 and 21 Msl Btys equipped with Honest John and 33 and 56 Heavy Btys equipped with 8" towed Howitzer. Nov 1971 to ?  - Northern Ireland (15 Bty).

 

1972

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 21, 33and 56 Msl Btys equipped with Honest John. Regiment reorganised to 3 missile Bty's. 23 April or Nov 33 Bty to JLRRA. April 56 Bty equipped with M110. 1 Nov 36 Msl Bty joined ex 39 Regt, a day later 56 Bty to 27 Regt.

 

1973 - 1975

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 21 and 36 Msl Btys, equipped with Honest John.

                    

1976

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 21 and 36 Msl Btys, equipped with Honest John. Changed equipment to 'Lance Tactical Nuclear Missile Delivery System' and renamed 50th (Missile) Regiment RA. Dec 21 Bty moved to 27 Regt.

 

1977

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15 and 36 Msl Btys, equipped with Lance Tactical Nuclear Missile. Feb amalgamated with 24th Missile Regiment RA and reverted to 4 missile Bty's. These being 19 (Gibralter) Bty, 36 (Arcot) Bty, 15 Missile Bty, 51 (Kabul) Bty.  Also granted freedom of the town of Menden. 

 

1978 - 1984

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 19, 36 and 51 Msl Btys, equipped with Lance Tactical Nuclear Missile.

 

1985

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 19, 36 and 51 Msl Btys, equipped with Lance Tactical Nuclear Missile. 51 Bty disbanded.

 

1986 - 1989

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 19 and 36 Msl Btys, equipped with Lance Tactical Nuclear Missile.

 

1990

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 19 and 36 Msl Btys, equipped with Lance Tactical Nuclear Missile. Nov 1991 to ?  - Northern Ireland (15 Bty).

 

1991

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 19 and 36 Msl Btys, equipped with Lance Tactical Nuclear Missile.

 

1992

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 19 and 36 Msl Btys, equipped with Lance Tactical Nuclear Missile. Jul 1992 to ? - Northern Ireland Tour (36 Bty) (Maze Prison).

 

1993

Germany: Northumberland Bks, Menden with 15, 19 and 36 Msl Btys, equipped with Lance Tactical Nuclear Missile. 31 Mar Regiment placed in Suspended Animation. Jan 36 Bty to 40 Regt. Mar 15 Bty to 22 Regt and 19 Bty to 14 Regt as AMF (L).
