1949

Germany: Crookenden Bks, Essen with 68, 87 and 179 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr. Canal Zone?

1951 - 1952

1953

Germany: Crookenden Bks, Essen with 68, 87 and 179 Fld Btys, part of 2nd Infantry Division. Equipped with 25pdr. Autumn moved to Plumer Bks, Crown Hill, Plymouth for re-equipping and embarkation leave. 13 Nov sailed from Princes Landing Stage on HMT "Empire Fowey" for Korea. Dec arrived Korea, replaced 20 Regt RA.

Korea with 68, 87 and 179 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr.

 

1955

Korea with 68, 87 and 179 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr. Jan moved to Sek Kong Camp, Hong Kong.

 

1956

Hong Kong: Sek Kong Camp with 68, 87 and 179 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr. Jan moved to Cwrt-y-Gollen Camp, Crickhowell.

 

1957

Wales: Cwrt-y-Gollen Camp, Crickhowell with 68, 87 and 179 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr. Aug moved to Royal Citadel, Plymouth.

 

1958

England: Royal Citadel, Plymouth with 68, 87 and 179 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr. 1 October 179 Bty S/A (disb 1/1/62), replaced by 94 Bty (resus, late of 54th Field Regt RA).

 

1959

England: Royal Citadel, Plymouth with 68, 87 and 94 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr. 1 Jan 87 Bty S/A, 49 Bty joined ex 23rd Field Regt RA.

 

1960

England: Royal Citadel, Plymouth with 49, 68 and 94 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr. May or Aug moved to Karalos Camp, Famagusta. 24/8 – 18/10 In Cyrenica on Ex Triangle – Check.

 

1961

Cyprus: Karalos Camp, Famagusta with 49, 68 and 94 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr. Moved to Slim Bks, Dhekelia on Cyprus getting independence.

 

1962

Cyprus: Slim Bks, Dhekelia with 49, 68 and 94 Fld Btys. Equipped with 25pdr. Oct moved to Llanion Bks, Pembroke Dock. 15 Oct converted to 42nd Medium Regiment RA. Equipped with 5.5” Gun.

 

1963

Wales: Llanion Bks, Pembroke Dock with 49, 68 and 94 Med Btys. Equipped with 5.5” Gun.

 

1964

Wales: Llanion Bks, Pembroke Dock with 49, 68 and 94 Med Btys. Equipped with 5.5” Gun. May moved to Churchill Bks, Lippstadt.

 

1965 - 1966

Germany: Churchill Bks, Lippstadt with 49, 68 and 94 Med Btys. Equipped with M109. Feb moved to Hopton Bks, Devizes. 10 Feb 68 Bty S/A, 18 Bty joined from 18th Light Regt RA as a med bty, HQ Bty formed. Mar redesignated 42nd Field Regiment RA. Equipped with 5.5” Gun.

 

1970

1971

England: Hopton Bks, Devizes with 18, 49 and 94 Fld Btys. Equipped with 5.5” Gun. 6 - 16 July Northern Ireland Tour - Belfast. 8 - 31Aug Northern Ireland Tour - Ballykinler. Nov moved to St Barbara Bks, Fallingbostel. 10 Nov converted to 42nd Heavy Regiment RA. Equipped with M107.
