39 Army Engineer Regiment formed in Crickhowell with 71, 72 and 73 Field Squadrons and 74 Field Park Squadron, all newly formed. Reduced to cadre to find manpower for Korea

Kenya with 72 and 73 Field Squadrons and 74 Field Park Squadron. 71 Sqn detached to SME then transferred to 28 Regt. 73 Sqn redes as independent and remained in Kenya. 74 Sqn returned to UK to reorganise for Malaya, RHQ and 72 Sqn return to UK to disband.

May HQRE (Airfields) formed at Waterbeach with 52 Fld Sqn (Airfds) at Waterbeach and 53 Fld Sqn (Airfds) transferred from 38 Engr Regt at Ripon.

1967

Waterbeach as HQRE (Airfds) with 52 and 53 Fld Sqns (Airfds). Mar HQRE (Airfds) became 39 Engineer Regiment (Airfields).

1968

Waterbeach with 52 and 53 Fld Sqns (Airfds). 51 Fld Sqn (Airfds) transferred from Singapore. May 53 Fld Sqn (Airfds) moved to Virgin Islands.

1969

Waterbeach with 51, 52 and 53 Fld Sqns (Airfds). 53 Fld Sqn (Airfds) in the Virgin Islands. May 53 Fld Sqn (Airfds) returned to Waterbeach. Mar 63 (Gulf) Sp Sqn transferred from Sharjah and became 63 Fld Sp Sqn (Airfds).

1970

Waterbeach with 51, 52 and 53 Fld Sqns (Airfds) and 63 Fld Sp Sqn (Airfds). Nov RHQ and became 63 Fld Sp Sqn (Airfds) amalgamated to form 63 HQ Sqn (Airfds). Aug 52 Fld Sqn (Airfds) moved to Anguila.

June 48 Fld Sqn transferred to 38 Engr Regt. 51 Fld Sqn (Airfds) became 51 Fld Sqn (Const) and transferred to 38 Engr Regt. Aug 53 Fld Sqn (Airfds) became 53 Fld Sqn (Const). Oct 34 Fld Sqn transferred from 22 Engr Regt. 52 Fld Sqn (Airfds) became 52 Fld Sqn (Const) transferred to 22 Engr Regt.

1978

1983

Waterbeach with 34 and 48 Fld Sqns, 53 Fld Sqn (Const) and 60 Fld Sup Sqn. The Regiment was re-roled, with 34 Squadron committed to the local 19 Infantry Brigade, mounted in wheeled armoured vehicles. The other squadrons were roled as a Field Support Squadron (60) and two construction squadrons whose main purpose was Airfield Damage Repair (ADR).

1984 - 1992

Waterbeach with 34 Fld Sqn and 48 and 53 Fld Sqn (Const) and 60 Fld Sup Sqn.

1993

Waterbeach with 34 Fld Sqn and 48 and 53 Fld Sqn (Const) and 60 Fld Sup Sqn. Squadrons were re-roled in order to be able to support the Harrier Force as well as ADR, and the fixed commitment to 19 Infantry Brigade ended, although local ties still existed.

1994

Waterbeach with 34 Fld Sqn and 48 and 53 Fld Sqn (Const) and 60 Fld Sup Sqn.

1995

Waterbeach with 34 Fld Sqn and 48 and 53 Fld Sqn (Const) and 60 Fld Sup Sqn. Role was changed to Air Support, which includes all manner of RE support to air operations. 60 Squadron re-roled as the Headquarters and Support Squadron and the other Squadrons were re-titled Field Squadrons (Air Support).

1996 - 2005

Waterbeach with 34, 48 and 53 Fld Sqn (Air Support) and 60 HQ and Sup Sqn.

2006 -

Waterbeach with 34, 48 and 53 Fld Sqn (Air Support) and 60 HQ and Sup Sqn. Renamed 39 Engineer Regiment.
