1947

1 April RHQ 53rd Airlanding Lt Regt RA in Palestine was redesignated RHQ 33rd Airborne Lt Regt RA, with 82, 96 and 97 Btys from 85 Bty of 83/85 Fld Bty (pers from 210 AL Lt Bty), 40 Fld Bty (resus from pers of 211 AL Lt Bty), and 87 Bty of 53/87 Fld Bty (resus from pers of 212 AL Lt Bty), respectively. Equipped with 75mm Pack Howitzer

 

1948

Palestine with 82, 96 and 97 Btys. Equipped with 75mm Pack Howitzer. 12 Mar embarked on the Otranto at Haifa and sailed for UK. July moved to Flensburg. Sept moved to St Barbara Bks, Fallingbostel.

 

1949

Germany: St Barbara Bks, Fallingbostel with 82, 96 and 97 Btys. Equipped with 75mm Pack Howitzer. Nov moved to ? Camp, Barton Stacey. 14 Dec 82 Bty S/A at Barton Stacey as 82 AB A/tk Bty (so desig 29/9/48).

 

1950

England:  ? Camp, Barton Stacey with 96 and 97 Btys. Equipped with 75mm Pack Howitzer.

 

1951

England:  ? Camp, Barton Stacey with 96 and 97 Btys. Equipped with 75mm Pack Howitzer. July moved to Dhekelia Camp, Cyprus. Nov moved to Canal Zone, Egypt (Geneifa, Moascar, El Ballah, Port Said).

 

1952

Egypt: Canal Zone (Geneifa, Moascar, El Ballah, Port Said) with 96 and 97 Btys. Equipped with 75mm Pack Howitzer. Part of 3rd Infantry Div.

 

1953

Egypt: Canal Zone (Geneifa, Moascar, El Ballah, Port Said) with 96 and 97 Btys. 10 Mar redesignated 33rd Parachute Field Regiment RA.

 

1954

Egypt: Canal Zone (Geneifa, Moascar, El Ballah, Port Said) with 96 and 97 Btys.

 

1955

Egypt: Canal Zone (Geneifa, Moascar, El Ballah, Port Said) with 96 and 97 Btys. Moved to Lille Bks, Aldershot.

 

1956

England: Lille Bks, Aldershot with 96 and 97 Btys. July or September moved to Cyprus onboard the aircraft carrier HMS Theseus. Nov - Suez Invasion. Dec moved back to Cyprus, courtesy of a semi retired Cunarder RMS Ascania.

 

1957

Cyprus with 96 and 97 Btys. Feb moved to Lille Bks, Aldershot. 14 Feb redesignated 33rd Parachute Light Regiment RA. 1 September 82 Bty resus.

 

1958

England: Lille Bks, Aldershot with 82, 96 and 97 Btys. 29 Jan 82 & 96 Btys S/A, 29 and 41 Btys joined ex 77th HAA Regt RA. Apr 1958 - Aden (97 Bty - C Troop). Jordan.

 

1959 - 1960

England: Lille Bks, Aldershot with 29, 41 and 97 Btys.

 

1961

England: Lille Bks, Aldershot with 29, 41 and 97 Btys. Kuwait. 27 Jun RHQ disbanded to resus 7th Para Lt Regt RHA, 41 and 97 Btys to S/A and 4th Fld Regt RA, respectively – pers used to resus ‘F’, ‘G’ and ‘I’ Para Lt Btys RHA, 29 Bty to 4th Fd Regt (41 Bty later in JLR).
