May moved to Airfield Camp, Netheravon. 1 Sep Retitled 1st Light Regiment Royal Horse Artillery. Aug moved to Aden, based at Little Aden Barracks opposite the Marine Commando Barracks, equipped with Pack Howitzer.

 

1966

Aden: Little Aden with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Pack Howitzer. E Battery lost Battery Commander in Helicopter crash, Major John Sharpe (along with Captain Fleming, Pilot and Gunner John Cain, Observer). 20/4 or Jun Retitled 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery.

 

1967

Aden: Little Aden with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Pack Howitzer. Jun moved to Kirkee Bks, Colchester – 19 Infantry Bde. Jun retitled – 1st Field Regiment RHA.

 

1968

England: Kirkee Bks, Colchester – 19 Infantry Bde with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Pack Howitzer.

 

1969

England: Kirkee Bks, Colchester – 19 Infantry Bde, with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Pack Howitzer. 12 Dec moved to Northern Ireland – Belfast (City Centre).

 

1970

Northern IrelandBelfast (City Centre) with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA. 14 Mar moved back to Kirkee Bks, Colchester – 19 Infantry Bde, equipped with Pack Howitzer. May moved to Hobart Bks, Detmold equipped with Abbott and Green Archer Radar. Granted the Freedom of Nottingham.

 

1971

Germany: Hobart Bks, Detmold with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Abbott and Green Archer Radar.

 

1972

Germany: Hobart Bks, Detmold with  ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Abbott and Green Archer Radar. Part of  - 20th Armoured Brigade. 12 Sept moved to Northern Ireland – Long Kesh.

 

1973

Northern Ireland – Long Kesh with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Abbott and Green Archer Radar. 12 Jan moved back to Hobart Bks, Detmold.

 

1974

Germany: Hobart Bks, Detmold with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Abbott and Green Archer Radar. 6 Mar moved to Northern Ireland – Belfast (City Centre). 5 July moved back to Detmold.

 

1975

1976

Germany: Hobart Bks, Detmold with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Abbott and Green Archer Radar. 2 Mar moved to Northern Ireland – Belfast (Grand Central/City Centre). 9 June moved back to Detmold. Sept equipped with Cyberline Radar - CP in 432.

Germany: Hobart Bks, Detmold with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Abbott and Cyberline Radar - CP in 432. Mar E Bty become Independent Abbot Bty. Mar moved to Alanbrooke Bks, Topcliffe (E Bty in Detmold). Mar equipped with 5.5” Gun.

 

1978

England: Alanbrooke Bks, Topcliffe with ‘A’ and ‘B’ Btys RHA, equipped with 5.5” Gun. Mar ‘E’ Bty rejoined the Regiment.

 

1979

1980

Germany: Haig Bks, Hohne with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Abbot 105mm. Oct A, B & E amalgamated to form A/B/E Bty for Gulf War.

 

1991

Germany: Haig Bks, Hohne with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Abbot 105mm. April A, B & E Bty’s separated.

 

1992

Germany: Haig Bks, Hohne with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with Abbot 105mm. Jun or Sept moved to Assaye Barracks, Tidworth equipped with 105mm Light Gun.

 

1993

England: Assaye Barracks, Tidworth with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘E’ Btys RHA, equipped with 105mm Light Gun. Apr Retitled 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery. Sept Regiment was equipped with AS90. Dec L (Néry) and O (The Rocket Troop) Bty’s joined after the disbandment of 2nd Regiment Royal Artillery, O Bty became O/HQ Bty.

 

1994

England: Assaye Barracks, Tidworth with ‘A’, ‘B’,‘E’,’L’ and ‘O’ HQ Btys RHA, equipped with AS90 - OPs in Warrior OPVs. April Radar Troop to Bosnia.

 

1995

England: Assaye Barracks, Tidworth with ‘A’, ‘B’,‘E’,’L’ and ‘O’ HQ Btys RHA, equipped with AS90 - OPs in Warrior OPVs.

 

1996

England: Assaye Barracks, Tidworth with ‘A’, ‘B’,‘E’,’L’ and ‘O’ HQ Btys RHA, equipped with AS90 - OPs in Warrior OPVs. July Bosnia (6 months).

 

1997

England: Assaye Barracks, Tidworth with ‘A’, ‘B’,‘E’,’L’ and ‘O’ HQ Btys RHA, equipped with AS90 - OPs in Warrior OPVs. The Regiment embarked on a successful six month operational tour in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia, where we were deployed, throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina and helped with the smooth running of the first National Elections ?

 

1998

England: Assaye Barracks, Tidworth with ‘A’, ‘B’,‘E’,’L’ and ‘O’ HQ Btys RHA, equipped with AS90 - OPs in Warrior OPVs. July Bosnia (6 months) (B & E Btys).

 

1999

England: Assaye Barracks, Tidworth with ‘A’, ‘B’,‘E’,’L’ and ‘O’ HQ Btys RHA, equipped with AS90 - OPs in Warrior OPVs. Nov N Bty (The Eagle Troop) moved from 3 RHA and amalgamates with L Bty to become L/N (Néry) Bty (The Eagle Troop).


2000

England: Assaye Barracks, Tidworth with ‘A’, ‘B’,‘E’ and ‘O’ HQ Btys RHA, equipped with AS90 - OPs in Warrior OPVs. Jul to ? - Bosnia (A Bty) / Kosovo (L/N & O Bty).
