1947

1 April RHQ 2nd Coast Regiment RA at North Queensferry, Fife was retitled RHQ 16th Coast Regiment RA, consisting of 3, 26, 30 and 32 Coast Btys redesignated from 1, 7, 8 and 9 Coast Btys, respectively. Fife.  30 Bty & HQ at St Davids Camp, Inverkeithing, 3 Bty at Kincraig Camp, Elie and 32 Bty at Kinghorn.

 

1948

Scotland: North Queensferry, Fife with 30 Bty & HQ at St Davids Camp, Inverkeithing, 3 Bty at Kincraig Camp, Elie and 32 Bty at Kinghorn. 1 June 26 Bty joined 72nd Coast Regiment. 268 Maint Bty (late of 93rd HAA Regt) resuscitated in regt at North Queensferry, Fife.

 

1949

Scotland: North Queensferry, Fife with 30 Bty & HQ at St Davids Camp, Inverkeithing, 3 Bty at Kincraig Camp, Elie and 32 Bty at Kinghorn and 268 Maint Btys.

 

1950

Scotland: North Queensferry, Fife with 30 Bty & HQ at St Davids Camp, Inverkeithing, 3 Bty at Kincraig Camp, Elie and 32 Bty at Kinghorn and 268 Maint Btys. 15 Oct 3 Bty to 47th Coast Regiment RA, 26 Bty rejoined the Regiment ex 72nd Coast Regiment. 21 Oct Order for regiment to placed in suspended animation cancelled. Nov retitled 16th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA, equipped with 40mm Bofors Guns. Moved to Bulford.

 

1951

England: Bulford with 26, 30 and 32 LAA Btys.

 

1952

England: Bulford with 26, 30 and 32 LAA Btys. Moved to Quebec Bks, Osnabruck.

 

1953

Germany: Quebec Bks, Osnabruck with 26, 30 and 32 LAA Btys.

 

1954

Germany: Quebec Bks, Osnabruck with 26, 30 and 32 LAA Btys.

 

1955

Germany: Quebec Bks, Osnabruck with 26, 30 and 32 LAA Btys.

 

1956

Germany: Quebec Bks, Osnabruck. Moved to Carlton Bks, Bulford with 26, 30 and 32 LAA Btys. September moved to Dhekelia, Cyprus for Suez crisis, guns were deployed till 9th Dec and an anti-aircraft stand-down was ordered 22nd Dec. Remained in Dhekelia and Larnaca area on internal security duties.

 

1957

Cyprus: Dhekelia with 26, 30 and 32 LAA Btys. 1 March 268 Maint Bty disbanded (complete by 22/2/58). 10th Oct moved back to UK.

 

1958

UK with 26, 30, 32 LAA Btys. 31March 26 Bty into suspended animation to resuscitate 73 Bty.

 

1959

UK with 30, 32 and 73 LAA Btys. Moved to Shorncliffe.

 

1960

England: Shorncliffe with 30, 32 and 73 LAA Btys. Apr 73 Bty into suspended animation (resus 1/5 from pers of 113 Loc Bty then to 94 Locating Regiment RA).

 

1961

England: Shorncliffe with 30 and 32 LAA Btys.

 

1962

England: Shorncliffe with 30 and 32 LAA Btys. Moved to Bradbury Bks, Krefeld.

 

1963

Germany: Bradbury Bks, Krefeld with 30 and 32 LAA Btys.

 

1964

Germany: Bradbury Bks, Krefeld with 30 and 32 LAA Btys. 18 Mar re-titled 16th Light Air Defence Regiment RA. Moved to C Camp, Barton Stacey.

 

1965

England: C Camp, Barton Stacey with 30 and 32 LAA Btys. March 30 Bty to Borneo.

 

1966 - 1969

England: C Camp, Barton Stacey with 30 and 32 LAA Btys.

 

1970

England: C Camp, Barton Stacey with 30 and 32 LAA Btys. 1 Jan 14 Bty resuscitated from pers of HQ Bty 34th Light Air Defence Regiment RA and joined the Regiment. 28 June-28 Oct Northern Ireland Tour – Belfast.

 

1971

England: C Camp, Barton Stacey with 14, 30 and 32 LAA Btys. July moved to Salamanca Bks, Soest.

 

1972

Germany: Salamanca Bks, Soest with 14, 30 and 32 LAA Btys. 15 Nov moved to Londonderry.

 

1973

Northern Ireland: Londonderry with 14, 30 and 32 LAA Btys. 16 March moved back to Salamanca Bks, Soest.

 

1974

Germany: Salamanca Bks, Soest with 14, 30 and 32 LAA Btys. 13 Mar-15 July Northern Ireland Tour – Londonderry.

 

1975

Germany: Salamanca Bks, Soest with 14, 30 and 32 LAA Btys.

 

1976

Germany: Salamanca Bks, Soest with 14, 30 and 32 LAA Btys. 29 June-29 Sept Northern Ireland Tour – Londonderry.

 

1977

Germany: Salamanca Bks, Soest with 14, 30 and 32 LAA Btys. Jan retitled 16th Air Defence Regiment Royal Artillery. Dec moved to Rapier Bks, Kirton Lindsey.

 

1978

England: Rapier Bks, Kirton Lindsey with 14, 30 and 32 AD Btys.

 

1979

England: Rapier Bks, Kirton Lindsey with 14, 30 and 32 AD Btys equipped with Rapier.  6 Dec moved to Armagh.

 

1980

Northern Ireland: Armagh with 14, 30 and 32 AD Btys. 2 April moved back to Kirton Lindsey.

 

1981

England: Rapier Bks, Kirton Lindsey with 14, 30 and 32 AD Btys. May moved to Moore Bks, Dortmund.

 

1982

Germany: Moore Bks, Dortmund with 14, 30 and 32 AD Btys. 14 Bty Falklands.

 

1983 - 1984

Germany: Moore Bks, Dortmund with 14, 30 and 32 AD Btys.

 

1985

Germany: Moore Bks, Dortmund with 14, 30 and 32 AD Btys. May moved to Rapier Bks, Kirton Lindsey. 40 Bty joined the Regiment.  Now equipped with Towed Rapier. 

 

1986 - 1989

England: Rapier Bks, Kirton Lindsey with 14, 30, 40 and 32 AD Btys. Equipped with Towed Rapier. 

 

1990

England: Rapier Bks, Kirton Lindsey with 14, 30, 40 and 32 AD Btys. Equipped with Towed Rapier.  Jan 1990 - Northern Ireland (30 & 14 Btys).

 

1991

England: Rapier Bks, Kirton Lindsey with 14, 30, 40 and 32 AD Btys. Equipped with Towed Rapier. 

 

1992

England: Rapier Bks, Kirton Lindsey with 14, 30, 40 and 32 AD Btys. Equipped with Towed Rapier. July moved to Napier Bks, Dortmund. Equipped with Tracked Rapier.

 

1993

Germany: Napier Bks, Dortmund with 14, 30, 40 and 32 AD Btys. Equipped with Tracked Rapier. Apr retitled 16th Regiment Royal Artillery. 11 Bty retitled 11 Headquarters Bty. Jul 1993 - Northern Ireland (32 Bty).

 

1994

Germany: Napier Bks, Dortmund with 14, 30, 11 and 32 AD Btys. Equipped with Tracked Rapier.

 

1995

Germany: Napier Bks, Dortmund with 14, 30, 11 and 32 AD Btys. Equipped with Tracked Rapier. Moved to Centaur Bks, Woolwich with 14, 30, 11 and 32 AD Btys. Equipped with HVMs.

 

1996

England: Centaur Bks, Woolwich with 14, 30, 11 and 32 AD Btys. Oct 1996 - Northern Ireland (14 Bty). Equipped with HVMs.

 

1997

England: Centaur Barracks, Woolwich with 14, 30, 11 and 32 AD Btys.

 

1998

England: Centaur Barracks, Woolwich with 14, 30, 11 and 32 AD Btys. Moved to Napier Lines, Woolwich. Oct to ? - Northern Ireland.

 

1999

England: Napier Lines, Woolwich with 14, 30, 11 and 32 AD Btys.

 

2000

England: Napier Lines, Woolwich with 11 (Sphinx) HQ, 32 (Minden), 30 (Roger's Company) and 14 (Cole's Kop) Btys. June to Dec UN Tour Cyprus.

 

2001 - 2008

England: Napier Lines, Woolwich with 11 (Sphinx) HQ, 32 (Minden), 30 (Roger's Company) and 14 (Cole's Kop) Btys. Equipped with Rapier air defence missile system.

  

2009

England: North Luffenham, Rutland with 11 (Sphinx) HQ, 32 (Minden), 30 (Roger's Company) and 14 (Cole's Kop) Btys. Equipped with Rapier air defence missile system.
